Mikkel Hansen startet his career when he was a child.
He lived in Helsingør, and played in HIF - Helsinør idræts forening, but when  he was older, GOG - Gudme Oure Gudbjerg, asked him, if he would play with them. He said yes, and in 2007, they became Danish Champions.
In 2007 he became a part of the danish nationalteam, and in OL 2008 he was reserve, but when Michael V. Knudsen got sick, Mikkel Hansen played instead. No one actually knew him, but in a game against Russia, he scored the crucial goal and Denmark won the game. After that goal, almost everyone in Denmark knew who he was, and his carrer could only get better.

1st March 2012, Mikkel Hansen elect as the best handball player in the world, so now he has reached his goal. 

In 2010 the danish handball team AG København was started. The owner, Jesper 'Kasi' Nielsen, asked Mikkel if he would play in the team. First, Mikkel said no. But after some days, he gave it a try. AG København was getting bigger and bigger, and in 2010 they became Danish Champions. 
the 31th July 2012 AG København was official bankrupt, so Mikkel Hansen is now out of work.
